Wow, had a close call the other day when I was pricing out and looking at samples for my wedding invitations. I am going to get letterpress invitations, it is something I have had in my mind for sometime now, but I finally got around to ordering samples and comparing pricing and quality. Boy, was I surprised. I admit I was biased from the start, I liked Cranes and William Arthur but then I saw samples and I just didn’t do it for me. Not much pressure and the papers are so similar and no real environmental options either. The one I did like was Page Stationery. The sample kit was nice and well laid out and I called them and they sent the samples for just $5 to cover the shipping. What I like the most is the broad selection of papers they have, the pricing is comparable to William Arthur and the printing is just so much better! Page also is also eco friendly and are the only printers that using solar power to print, we used 100% cotton papers as well. Anyway I looked at the other boutique firms as well but the turnaround was slower and pricing was higher so we went with Page and I love them!

As many Hollywood movies have documented – from Father of the Bride to Meet the Fokkers – planning a wedding can be a stressful, but rewarding experience. Wedding planning involves thorough organisation, accurate planning, a head for punctuality and the memory of an elephant – all four of which are hard to come by in one person!

But regardless of whether you can afford to hire your own wedding planner or instead have to rely on yourself and your family to get your wedding plans running like clockwork, it’s important to maintain a tight rein over your wedding preparations to ensure things go the way you want them to!

For starters, compile a guest list: it’s a good idea to determine your out-of-town guest list first, and then draw up an entire guest list. You’ll also need to decide key dates, such as your engagement party, your bachelor/bachelorette bash, your rehearsal dinner and, of course, your actual wedding day!

It’s also crucial to calculate how much space you’ll need before you decide on where to book the location for your wedding. You might have had your heart set on the lavish ballroom at the local hotel – but if the space available at the venue is simply too big (or small), it won’t be practical to hold your wedding there. Once you’ve chosen your ceremony location, make sure you don’t just book it for the day of your wedding but also book for your rehearsal as well! Moreover, choose a florist and invite them to look over the wedding location with you, so your flower arrangements can be tailored specifically to harmonise with your ceremony as much as possible.

If you’re planning your wedding yourself, it’s a good idea to hand over some control of the wedding planning duties to a member of your family – such as a parent or a sibling – as the countdown to your wedding day gets shorter and shorter. This way, you’ll have time to do some essential bridal preparations, including wedding gown fittings, selection of bridesmaid’s dresses and the arrangements for hair and make-up.

And while it’s easy to get caught up in the more romantic bits of wedding planning, like choosing what music to have and buying wedding rings, it’s also important to keep in mind certain legal necessities, such as applying for a marriage licence and looking into changing your name (if applicable).

If you choose to have your wedding in a hotel, you’re sure to find many hotel wedding packages to suit you. This way, you’ll be able to house your out-of-town guests in the same hotel as the wedding ceremony and take advantage of the expert wedding planning advice that experienced hotel experts can give.

Since you were a little girl, you have probably dreamed about what your wedding day would be like. You have imagined the dress, cake, flowers, music – every little detail. Now that you are engaged, the reality of the costs are probably hitting you and you are more than likely concerned about how you are going to pay for everything. Relax! You can still have a dream wedding without spending a fortune.

First, set your wedding date several months into the future. This will help you have a good bit of time to plan all the details without tight time constraints. Another benefit of having several months to plan is you will be able to schedule service providers in advance and possibly be able to save on fees.

In order to get everything you desire for your wedding, you will need to shop around. Contact all the florists, photographers, caterers, etc. and get price quotes. Be patient and do not take the first one. By shopping around, you can get good deals.

Consider doing some of the tasks yourself along with your family and friends. Many craft stores offer all the items you would need to create your own invitations, decorations and even wedding favors. This is one area where you can really save a good bit of money. Even if you are not a crafty person, someone in your bridal party probably is.

Ask your friends and family for recommendations. They may have contacts they can call who can offer you cheaper prices. Even better, see if your family and friends can provide the service for you. Enlist them to handle the decorating, caterering, videography and photography.

These are just a few examples of what you can do to save money. Give yourself plenty of time and be patient. You can have a dream wedding without spending a fortune!

Do you feel stressed from trying to plan your wedding? Still feel like you need more help planning your dream wedding? Don’t waste any more time!

So here you are, embarking on the journey towards the most important day of your life – your wedding day. It is likely that, from the minute you get engaged, planning your wedding may consume your life, in a good way of course! The venue, the dress, the honeymoon, the guest list, the invites, and last but absolutely by no means least – the catering.

There is no doubt that one of the most crucial parts of the day is the wedding food. Lunch or dinner, budget or expensive, the wedding breakfast (as it is traditionally called) is immensely important. It may be fish and chips from a seaside van for 20 guests, a hog roast in a field for 100, or a sumptuous five course banquet in a palace for 500, but whichever it is, the food really matters.

Most couples are faced with a dizzying array of caterers. And choices. But many of the catering decisions are effected by the theme and style of your day. Informal and laid back? A barbecue in the garden maybe. Formal and elegant? A silver service three course dinner. Either way, the meal is the part of the day where all your guests, young and old, and from both families – bride’s and groom’s – will sit down, relax, chat and eat together. Oh and listen to the all-important speeches too! Of course, by choosing the right caterer at the very outset, you can be sure a team with relevant skills and experience will be responsible for getting it right, and you can leave this part of the day in someone else’s more than capable hands.

As far as finding your caterer is concerned, make sure you do some homework – ask for recommendations, speak to other brides, or to the planning staff at your chosen venue (venues often provide a list of professionals they prefer to work with). Alternatively, ask your photographer, florist and other wedding suppliers whether they can recommend a great caterer. Search bridal magazines, local county magazines and phone directories.

Some of the larger more luxurious caterers such as “rhubarb” food design or Alison Price can work in pretty much any space and even in any country, so don’t just assume you can’t have who you want! Always look for testimonials that might give you a steer on whether this company really knows what they are doing. If a number of brides have recently written glowing letters of recommendation after their big days, then you can be pretty sure a caterer is able to do the same for you. Then, when you’ve found two or three potential companies, pay each one a visit with your ideas and a ballpark budget.

At the outset, it is very important to focus on the menu – and you can talk to your potential caterers about this very early on. Get them to suggest ideas. Talk about what suits you as a couple, and get advice on what is right for the venue, the overall occasion and for your guests. If the produce is excellently sourced and excellently cooked, even sausages and mash can be perfect for a wedding meal. Ask your caterer about what is seasonal, and what they think of as their signature wedding dishes. Popular choices still tend to be chicken, lamb, beef and salmon. They’re generally well-liked and, if your caterer is any good, they don’t have to be boring either. If you want canapés before the meal, when people arrive and drink their first glass of icy champagne, then ask to see a canapés list – getting these right really makes an important first impression and is a great way of wowing your guests before they have even sat down!

If you want to save money, think about serving substantial canapes or bowl food instead of a starter, and a very luxurious chocolate wedding cake can easily double up as your pudding. Think about a tower of rainbow coloured initialled cupcakes – not only are they a stunning wedding centerpiece, but they solve the problem of wedding favours for your guests too!

The wedding day can be a long one, and many couples like to provide additional food towards the end of an evening. It’s a lovely idea to serve hot dogs or bacon sandwiches at midnight for example, or if you are having a wedding lunch how about tea and sandwiches at 5pm? It doesn’t have to be expensive, but it can make your guests feel really well looked after.

One you have decided on your caterer, and when you are almost there with your menu, ask if you can have a tasting. When you are spending so much money, it’s a good idea to make sure you absolutely love what they will be serving. You wouldn’t buy your wedding dress without trying it on would you? This is also a good opportunity to choose the wine you feel best suits your menu and the champagne for the toasts. And don’t forget to discuss cocktails, soft drinks and any special dietary requirements too!

Never underestimate how crucial the caterer is to the decorative side of things as well. You may have planned the colour and theme of the room or venue, and certainly you will have given a great deal of thought to the flowers, but what about the plates, the glasses, the linen and cutlery? You may be able to choose the colours and designs. Bridesmaids wearing baby blue? How about baby blue table cloths? Seaside themed wedding? How about shell candle holders? Or pebble placenames?
And the staff can even get in to the spirit of things too – dressing up for a 60s themed wedding for example.

Overall, just try to focus on finding a catering company, good wedding caterers who you feel sure will absolutely make your dream day a reality. If everything is in place and running perfectly on the big day all you have to worry about is remembering every last second of the best day of your life. And that is just as it should be.

Here the author Sara Allom writes about rhubarb and it’s wedding catering. Every minute thing will be addressed in the grandest way.
A lot of couples dream of having a Hawaii beach wedding. And why not? The golden coasts, lush vegetation, and a populace known for its warmth and sense of jubilation all make for a vivid and stimulating destination wedding.

But like every great beach wedding idea, a Hawaii destination wedding needs careful thought and planning. Probably the best way to research your Hawaii beach wedding would be to use the internet. The beach theme wedding is so popular there are many websites devoted to Hawaiian ceremonies. You can also find info on a Caribbean beach wedding, Florida beach wedding, and other places that can offer you similarly stimulating venues for your ceremony.

The key word here is planning. The more you know what you want and the better you can visualize it, the more successful and memorable your big day will be.

The following steps will help you envision, plan, and organize a breathtaking Hawaii beach wedding.

Hawaii Beach Wedding Tip #1 – Create Your Invitations

Create invitations that reflect the theme of your ceremony. Traditional card invitations that come in light sandy colors are great; alternatively, how about non traditional invites like small bottles with sand and a rolled sheet of paper inside (with your ceremony details printed on it)?

Hawaii Beach Wedding Tip #2 – Book Your Destination Wedding

Be sure to settle your venue quick; remember, you’re not the only couple that wants to get married in Hawaii! Check places through travel agencies or online. Research the location, amenities, view, and other details of your Hawaii destination wedding. Also book your minister around this time as well as the all-important reception area.

Hawaii Beach Wedding Tip #3 – Make Travel Arrangements

If you’re not from Hawaii, book all plane tickets, island rides, and hotel accommodations well in advance so you don’t have to worry about them later. Make sure your hotel is near the venue. The success of a destination wedding hinges on this crucial plan element.

Hawaii Beach Wedding Tip #4 – Apply for a Marriage License

The application fee for a Hawaiian marriage license is $50. You have 30 days from the issuance of the license to get married in Hawaii. If it expires, your destination wedding will have to wait. It’s easy enough to reapply but you’ll have to spend $50 again!

Hawaii Beach Wedding Tip #5 – Choose Your Attire Well

The traditional garb is as follows: a white holoku (Hawaiian bridal dress) for the bride and a white shirt and pants with a colored sash for the groom. If it’s going to be a full outdoor wedding, your attire shouldn’t be too stifling. Arrange maile leis – woven garlands made out of fragrant green leaves – for the two of you to wear. As for a veil – most Hawaiian ceremonies do not require brides to wear veils. She might want to wear a special wreath of flowers on her head instead.

Hawaii Beach Wedding Tip #6 – Decide On Ceremony Elements

After the ceremony, some couples follow the Chinese practice of lighting fireworks to scare off evil spirits and bestow good luck on the newlyweds; others engage in a Pandango, a Filipino tradition where guests use pins to attach money to the couple as they dance. You can do something similar or you can simply put on a new twist on old practices. For example, instead of a unity candle ceremony, you can try the unity SAND ceremony where the bride and groom mix two different shades of sand into a large glass, signifying their union in a fun and unique way.

Hawaii Beach Wedding Tip #7 – Pick the Right Decorations

Select decor that go hand in hand with your overall theme and beach wedding elements. There’s no need to go overboard with set pieces; minimalism is good as the venue itself is already quite a joy to the senses. But don’t be too barren; just make sure to liven the place up with décor that befits your beach wedding ceremony and theme.

Hawaii Beach Wedding Tip #8 – Book Catering

Be sure your menu properly caters to your palette and those of your guests. If you know of any vegetarian guests, be sure to arrange some vegetarian dishes. Also, choose a menu that best reflects your ocean theme wedding – seafood is always great and heightens the ocean-side mood.

If you plan your destination wedding well and arrange many of these things in advance, your union will definitely be spectacular and memorable.

Weddings are costly of fares. Tremendous expenses are generally incurred. In the anglo american culture, the bride’s family pays for most of the wedding. In the Latino culture, immediate and extended families, of the bride and groom contribute their time, talents, and treasures to help the couple with some of the costs, thus making the wedding a community celebration.

Often, several pairs of godparents’ or a godfather or padrino and a godmother or madrina are chosen to provide invitations, the wedding cake, and other wedding necessities, or they give money to the couple for these items. Sometimes godparents’ pay for more than they can afford to avoid appearing less than generous. Because of their generosity of their gifts and the significance roll they play, the sponsors are acknowledged by having their names listed on special inserts and wedding invitations. Even if you’re fortunate to have supportive relatives and padrinos, one should not take advantage of their generosity. The engaged couple to be should take into consideration the responsibility of sticking with a realistic budget. A good idea for the future couple to be married is to work within a budget.

The budget should include rings, stationery, bridal attire, the groom’s attire, parents attire, godparents’ attire, specialty items, flowers, photography or video, music, transportation, accommodation for out of town guests, reception , accessories, decorations, honeymoon, gifts, parties, and any other miscellaneous items. By setting a budget you’ll be able to prepare for any unexpected surprises that may come up at the last minute. Here at the best-wedding-dress.com we hope to share with you helpful tips and ideas for that special day.

Next the couple to be married should check into the marriage License which is a civil contract. The couple to be married are entering a legal contract as well as an emotional and moral commitment. To make your marriage legal, you’ll need a license.

Marriage laws differ from state to state so check with the marriage licensing bureau about health prerequisites, age of consent, time of validity, documents required for presentation, and application fees. The engaged couple must apply for the marriage license in person. You may be required to bring your birth certificates, identification cards, death certificate of a former spouse if widowed, annulment or divorce decree if previously married, and results of any blood tests. Proof of U.S. citizenship may also be necessary. Call the marriage licensing bureau first to save time.

If you’re going to be getting married to someone who is a citizen of another country, be aware of the Immigration laws.. Americans are marrying foreigners at the rate of almost 225,000 year, and more than 2.5 million International couples have married and settled in the U.S. in the last three decades. The immigrant spouse must stay married and reside with a U.S. citizen for three years before the naturalization process can begin. One should be careful about violating immigration laws or else you and your non American spouse can be legally separated by deportation. Contact the INS for more affirmation about these issues and other international marriage laws .

Decorating wedding receptions and ceremonies can be fun and inexpensive. Whether you are planning your own or coordinating for a friend; wedding plans can be stressful. Decorating wedding tables, receptions, and other details doesn’t need to drain your budget.

DIY (do it yourself) and cut thousands of dollars out of your wedding decorations while hosting an exquisitely decorated wedding. Find affordable DIY ideas in bridal books, magazines, and on the web. DIY all the décor and other details. DIY invitations, addressed envelopes and RSVP cards. DIY and create a cohesive theme that makes the wedding shine.

Start your decoration plans by creating an overall theme or color scheme for the event. It’s sometimes fun to make a collage of flower arrangements, table settings, dresses and colors. Use your collage for color ideas and compare details that might look better together. Having a visual makes it easier for you to show your florist or cake decorator the ideas you have in mind.

Friends and family often offer to help with wedding planning. Call them on it! A DIY wedding can be a fun way to bond with your bridal party during the engagement. Get to know your in-laws a little better and make excuses for everyone to spend time together. Use the DIY wedding projects as an excuse to host and bridal party get-together. Get a few appetizers and drinks set and have everyone help you stamp name cards. The team will make the work quick and painless. There’s no need for you to sit and slave away by yourself when you have people who are willing to help. Have fun and get the work done.

Planning a wedding requires a lot of work. From the time of the engagement to the actual wedding day, there are a lot of things to do. Of course, one of the most obvious is finding the right dress and location for the big day.

But that is only the beginning. Other details include such things as choosing the invitations and flowers. Believe it or not, this can be a daunting task for many couples. After all, it’s not enough to have beautiful invitations, even the wording on the cards will be scrutinized by some recipients. And as far as the flowers go, not only does one have to consider the meaning behind the color chosen, but the cost of flowers that are out of season can be exorbitant.

Not to mention there is the rehearsal dinner and the reception to consider. This means food music and decorations must be chosen. The wedding cake itself is often a major point of concern. Not only the flavor and number of tiers must be selected, but also the cake topper. The couple can choose from toppers that are traditional in nature, sexy, or even funny.

One cannot overlook the not so little details like; the ring bearer pillow, flower girl basket, guest book, pen set, knife and server, toasting flutes, and bridal garter. But perhaps the most important thing to remember is to have plenty of pictures taken during the ceremony. After all, this is the most important day in the life of the couple and the photos will serve to keep the memories alive. That’s one reason that many couples now choose to distribute ‘wedding’ cameras to their guests at the reception. This enables them to get photos from all angles and perspectives.

The pictures taken during this event will become keepsakes that will be treasured forever. Some will be framed and displayed in the home of the couple and others will be lovingly added to a Professional wedding album. The album provides an easy way to collect and preserve all the photos in one localized place. Many couples include an annual exploration of their wedding album as part of their yearly anniversary celebration.

Lynnette Janson is a professional wedding planner. Ms. Janson suggests that couples insure that plenty of photos are taken during each event. According to her, traditionally wedding Photobook albums are used to document the big day, however, Ms. Janson recommends that it?s a good idea to have professional Photo book albums designated for each event related to the occasion. She suggests that couples visit the user friendly website at Photo Productions Ltd. for some great options. According to Ms. Janson, this website allows the customer to maintain control as a magnificent photobook is created.

Wedding budgeting is the least desired part of the getting hitched process for most brides. When the bride and groom are shelling out the wedding themselves, it’s hard enough, but when someone else is footing the bill, keeping the expenses in check is also important.

You can split the wedding budgeting process into categories.

First you have your printing charges. These include invitations and reply cards, announcements, napkins, thank you cards, wedding programs, and postage.

Then you have the different fees such as the marriage license, clergy fee, ceremony location, reception location, and equipment rentals.

Flowers make up 10 to 15 percent of most bride’s budgets. You have to factor in the Bride’s bouquet, the throw bouquet, decorations, corsages, brides maids flowers, and boutonnières.

Gifts to bridesmaids, groomsmen, and ushers all have to be factored in too.

Attire for the different parties has to be figured into the wedding budgeting. The Bridal Gown in many cases comprises 10 percent of the total cost of the wedding. Plus, you have to figure in the bridal shoes and accessories, the groom’s tux, the groom’s accessories, the bridesmaids dresses, and the attendant’s tuxedos or suits.

The pre-wedding festivities must be budgeted as well. These include the engagement party, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and the rehearsal dinner.

Entertainment, both at the ceremony and the reception, must be factored in.

Costs for the videographer and photographer must be budgeted.

Catering will make up a big chunk out of the budget. This includes the food and drink at the reception and the wedding cake.

You’ll want a limo to transport the bride and groom and you may want to factor in the rate of parking at the reception for guests.

Engagement and wedding rings are another big expense depending on their elaborateness.

There are miscellaneous charges such as wedding favors and tipping. Plus, you’ll need to leave some space in your budget for unexpected costs.

A wedding planner may make your wedding easier, but usually she won’t make it less expensive. On top of the fee you pay her, she may also add a percentage mark up to any goods or services that she arranges.

The average cost for a wedding is 28,732. When you start looking at all of the expenses that go into the wedding, you can see why it is so much. That’s why you need to begin the process by developing a good wedding budget so things do not get out of control.
